A bump in the road

Yesterday was a hard day and a good day all the same. Getting rid of the ECMO machine was scary for Walker who had come to rely on its support after 63 days of having it there as needed. So he was very anxious and he went from being cold all the time to being hot now. So this made him feel strange. He told the staff he wanted rest and that he would not walk.[...]

5-11 Mothers Day 2019

A banner day!!

He took the swallow test today and passed!! Woop Woop Woop. Now they will begin introducing liquids like naked juice, yogurt, and the like into his diet. He is super psyched to say the least. He walked lapping  the floor twice today in am and pm so getting stronger each day. [...]

A good day!

All Walkers stats are looking good. Lungs better and he’ll get to take them home with him when he leaves walking out the door of Advent Health Orlando. :-) They reduced his trach size from 8 to a 6 as they will continue to step down the size till not needed. His ECMO setting is down to a 2 and they will continue to wean him off it over coming days only removing when they think he won’t need it again. [...]

Praise report!

He walked down the hallway around the corner  to room 7 and back and did it on sweep of .5 (very little oxygen support from ECMO). Of course they have not told him this but right now all his support has been off for about 5 hrs which is very very awesome!! He had to have a new pic line placed today and the other pulled which is painful. Overall it was another good day 👏👏👍👍👏💪[...]
