This is my comfort in my affliction, for your words have given me life. Psalm 119:50
Without a doubt, Candy & I will tell you that it has been (and still is) reading God’s word daily with purpose that kept us moving through this life during very tough times. And we loved to pray with all that would take the time to pray with us about Walker, about strength, and well almost anything. These prayers were what gave us life and gave us breathe when it was in short supply. [...]
Celebrating one week home.
We had our 1st family BBQ since late February last night in Walkers honor to celebrate a successful 1st week home. We are very confident that we will pass the 2 week test with flying colors; they say if an ICU patient passes the 2 week mark at home without incident for having to return to the hospital that their recovery is well on track for success. New routines, new doctors offices, outpatient dialysis, in home physical therapist, special diets, no nursing care, doctors on call, etc..... As I have said to Walker, Candy, and Laura, the first week will be awkward and nerve racking, like Candy said it’s like the tension of bringing a new born home with complications, but things will smooth out shortly. This is a walk in a sunny park compared to the dark storms we have weathered to date.[...]
We are hard at work preparing for our celebrity patient to come home. Mom has set up his new bedroom beautifully and Dad has painted the whole house also beautifully. His gear started to arrive today as well and Candy is busy coordinating the different docs and therapist he will be working with from home, arranging for his meds, buying a special new recliner (it’s Jensen Beach Blue 😎).
