Day 69- LOOKING BACK

This weekend was amazing. Red's counts were good and we got the ok from the team to do 'normal' things... so we made the most of it.
We went out to breakfast at our favorite spot, met friends at the park for a small 3rd birthday celebration for our second son, and let the boys go to a sleepover so we got a nice quiet birthday dinner for Brian at our house. We went on family walks, and stopped to talk to neighbors. We went grocery shopping. And we baptized our little Red at church. (Once I'm able to go through the pictures I'll be sharing that whole experience with you... it was TRULY incredible.)[...]
We are home, STILL. Longest consecutive stretch of days home so far? Oh that's sad.
His pain seems managed. He's sleeping great. (Wish we were too!) He smiles, laughs, reaches for things. He's acting like a normal little 2.5 month old. Thank you God.[...]
We got discharged late yesterday after finishing the last day of chemo. His pain seems to have gotten more managed, and now we are just watching and waiting for the next round. Making sure there are no signs of infection, administering his meds, and tracking his weight gain.[...]
Chemo day 3. Red's starting to have a little nausea, which is to be expected. But he's still putting on weight which means he's doing alright and it's not concerning. For awhile the nutritionist wanted to add formula to his milk, and I had a lot of reservations that it was a good move for him as the once or twice that we did supplement seemed to only add to his vomiting. As long as he is consistently gaining weight though, we can keep on keeping on in the milk department. [...]
Red and I are in the Cancer Center indefinitely. Our new home.

The day after we got back from the hospital Redden was in unbelievable pain, and we had increased our 'on demand' pain medicine to the max dose. It wasn't working, and by the end of the day we were getting really concerned. When he cries like that and nothing, and I mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING seems to comfort him, it breaks me. The straw that broke the camel's back was when he vomited up his ng tube. So back we went.[...]
