Sunday, 4-3-16, Wrapping Up Round 3.

Here we are again, finding ourselves a little irritable as another round gets checked off the calendar. Not irritable that it's almost over, but irritable because of the week that lies ahead of us. Sundays and Mondays before Mike goes back into the hospital seem hard, which you'll think is weird because they are the days that he's feeling his best. I guess it's just the anxiety of knowing that this whole cycle is starting over again.[...]

Round 3, Day 11. Expect the Unexpected

Craig, if you read this one, grab your Kleenex.... or don't. But I warned you...

Mike isn't bouncing back as quick as he did the last 2 rounds, but that is to be expected. He is still describing it as feeling "icky". I wish there were something I could do to help him feel better. Feeling helpless is one of the worst feelings, I think.[...]

Good Days and Not so Good Days R3 D 3&4

Yesterday was a really good day for Mike. His friends, Kelli and Shannon, came to visit. They were such a breath of fresh air. We ordered lunch and laughed until late in the afternoon. They were barely out the door, and Mike smiled so big and said, "That was GREAT!" He is so lucky to have friendships from his childhood still going strong after a (few) years! :)[...]

Round 3 Day 2

Round 2, Day 9

Science and medicine are amazing, am I right? This week is just trucking right along, without the excitement that we had in week 2 of round 1. It seems the stars all aligned for us this time. I was feeling certain that this time would be better, but Mike wasn't as easy to convince. It turns out, I was right. I can't pinpoint exactly what it was that has made the difference since so many variables are different this round. For one, we are home and that has been a huge factor. For my second argument, they started Mike on Claritin before he finished his chemo so that seemed to fend off the congestion and cough he had last time. Another factor was that they weaned him off of the Prednisone. Whatever it was, it seemed to have worked.[...]
